Voice Description

I started a radio career in the early 80's as a Newsreader/Journalist and am recognised as having an authoratitive believable voice.
My voice is warm and friendly, and I can adopt an easy going conversational style, as well as a serious tone if a project demands it.
Many of the ads I have recorded have been a "call to action", or a warm and heartfelt plea as in Road Safety campaigns.

My work as an MC or host has called for a smooth and professional presentation, with the ability to hold an audience's attention essential.

I consider my voiceovers to be smooth and professional, and can adapt my voiceover style to a client's request - in other words, I understand what is required, and deliver with a minimum of fuss.

My Voice Experience

Started as a Radio Newsreader/Journalist at top rating Adelaide FM station in 1981.
My 15 years there included several as a member of the "Morning Zoo" breakfast program.

A further two years at talk news radio station 5AA, as well as a stint as a casual Newsreader/Journalist at 5DN and 102.3 FM.

For the past six years I have operated my own radio services in regional Australia,including in Roxby Downs and Alice Springs, and have written, produced and voiced thousands of radio commercials.

I have provided voiceovers for corporate videos, radio and television commercials, and documentaries, and have been employed to MC or host special events.

For ten years, I have been the host commentator at Australia's number one motorsport event, the Clipsal 500, and have operated and hosted radio services for other special events, including the Lights of Lobethal Festival.

My Training

I am a top graded journalist A+, and have a great deal of experience writing, producing and recording radio commercials in my home studio.

My 20 years experience in commercial radio taught me a great deal about voice work, and production, and a further six years operating my own radio services have expanded my knowledge of all aspects of voice work, and production.

My Studio Equipment

I have a Windows XP operating system, with Media Centre.

An advanced Creative SB X-Fi Audio soundcard provides top quality audio.

All voice work is recorded on to Cool Edit Pro, with a plug in for MP3s, essential for sending completed voiceovers via email.

This program also includes various controls to provide special effects.

I also have Nero 7 Essentials for burning on to CDs and DVDs, and hold an extensive collection of recorded sound effects and music backing tracks and stings.

I use a top quality Sony Microphone (ECM-MS907) for all voice production work at my home studio.

I am also familiar with and use DRS2006 radio automation software.

Additional Skills

I have had some experience in sales which I believe may be important when understanding the message the client wants to get across.

I take direction very well, and am able to knock off numerous "reads" in one sitting, with the minimum of fuss.

I have a good understanding of what style is required for different jobs, and am easy to adapt to any situation.

Above all, I am easy to get along with, and not a prima donna.
