My Voice Experience
I did ten years in radio, the last few hosting a "wacky" morning show. Wait! Don't click away, yet. Throughout those years I was very aware of not wanting to sound like a typical radio deejay or news anchor as I did radio commercials and other voice-overs. And my 13 years since, running an independent audio production studio, has validated again and again this long-held preference, as I've cast talent for hundreds of productions.
That's right -- I usually hire someone else! Because I know as well as anyone that a specific project requires a specific voice, and no one person can do it all.
That said, I can do all kinds of stuff. I have experience with radio and TV voice-overs, technical narrations, on-hold announcements, singing (and composing/producing) jingles, and more.
I've also bagged groceries and built submersible pump motors. Egad, man! Tell me you're not hiring for any such thing!
My Training
This is the part where we're supposed to talk about schooling, training and other voice-related background info. To be honest, I've always found that nothing I can say here is very important. It comes down to how you like my demos and audition. Plus, perhaps, your sense of my level of professionalism (this can be so important).
But, to answer the question: I got a B.S. in Communication, then did ten years of radio, trying hard not to sound like it, and now I've done this voice-over and audio production thing since 1993. I've also done a bit of acting and modeling along the way. Can I send you my head shot? (kidding--I have, afterall, a face for radio)
