Voice Description
I have a warm and melliflous modal voice and near perfect
pitch. Combine these with a three octave singing voice
and you have a performer who stopped counting variations
at 65 and said "That should be enough!" My first radio
spot was for Hometown Ice in 1970 where I laid down four
charcter voices in the session. It took 25 years before
the National Pork Producers tapped me two years in a row)
to do four different voices in Chicago for their national industrials. In between as a freelancer I did local and regional radio spots, TV VO's and OC's, and was a featured voice-talent for WITI-TV6. I was repped by the Shirley Hamilton Talent agency, and Shirley herself took me to talent agents to introduce me. Announcing styles have changed since I started, and I keep trying to sound like a "real person", but as a former reader for WYMS-FM ( the Milwaukee Public School system ) in "The Land of Nod" childrens series, I still have a fondness for my fish voice. Immodestly, I really have done it all, and after almost forty years you bet I've cranked out a lot of stuff. My favorite o/c was as Santa in 18 spots for Thrift/Treasury drugstores in a two week shoot. You should hear my bass "Ho-ho-ho"!
