Voice Description

I have a warm baritone voice which I use pretty much as is for for narration/announcer work, and I can also assume a breathier, husky tone which I have received good feedback on from commercial work and promos. I can also lighten the tone for an "Guy Next Door" character, or "gruff it up" to play a "Joe Sixpack" type, or pop into a higher register for a child or specialty character.

Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects

British and Irish accents are my specialty, and I've done them extensively in voicebook readings (lots of Gothic/British literature: Dracula, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Sherlock Holmes, etc.) I can also do a cockney accent, allowing for a contrast in class with the more formal posh Brit sound. I've done some character voicework as well, ranging from Santa Claus to Gollum (Lord of the Rings) to a talking doll with a big ego and a penchant for showtunes!

My Voice Experience

You may have heard my voice in various tv and radio commercials for Liberty Mutual Insurance, Boston Scientific, the Atlantic Brewing Company, the Camden Motor Co., Rothman Furniture, and Hennessey Homebrew, Inc. I have also done voice-overs for numerous political campaign spots, frequently working with Payne and Co. on spots for state legislative races. As a voice actor, I have narrated and/or played featured roles in over a dozen audiobooks and adiodramas for Old Time Radio Theatre in Wilmington, MA and Radio Drama Revival! in Portland, ME.

My Training

I have completed voice over courses, both introductory and advanced, with Jordan Rich and Ken Carberry at Chart Productions in Boston, with whom I recorded my demo. I am a trained musical theater actor who has worked in both professional and amateur productions, both regionally and on tour (Sweeney Todd, The Secret Garden, Miracle on 34th Street, others). I have a minor in Theater Arts from Boston College, where I studied with John Houchin, Stuart Hecht, Howard Enoch, and J.P. Marcoux.

Additional Skills

I have spent 12 years working as a staffer and campaign consultant for various politicians in the Boston area, and I have an extensive knowledge of the ins and outs of political campaigns and the history of American presidential elections. I'm also an avid homebrewer, who brews a vast variety of hard cider, ale, lager, wines, and mead. If you hire me, I may bring you a sample!
