My voice has been described as "unique.. smoooth.. interesting?.. authoritative... playfull... warm and very engaging. When the script allows, I really get a kick out of being playfull and trying different personality types. Not accents or regional dialects so much as "people types"... you know, blue collar, professional, techno geek, rural, etc.
My strongest vocal approach however, continues to be straight forward, relaxed, personable... talking with the listener, not announcing or shouting at the listener.

My Voice Experience

I have extensive experience in voice acting for television documentaries, corporate videos. and radio announcing.

My most recent work involved narration for video submissions to the Canadian Media Initiative Awards (MIA). I like to call it "Black Tie Voiceovers".

Contrast that with the narration I did for a police training video on recognizing sexual abuse of children.

From anchoring daily television newscasts or co-hosting regional "breakfast television" talk shows to hosting town hall meetings and election coverage; thiose experiences form the foundation on which my voiceover career is being constructed.

My Training

Voiceover work is all about storytelling and emotion. You seek the emotional attachment of your listeners and you get it by the story you weave with your voice. No matter how good the writing, if the voice is not right you won't get the "emotional buy-in" of your target audience.

Trained to CBC Standards, I am a non union voice talent based in the Toronto area.

My 23 years of experience in radio and television studios in Canada has been very rewarding. I also had the terrific opportunity to work with students at the University of Western Ontario. During a period in the mid-nineties I was able to serve as an Adjunct Professor to the School of Journalism. Sort of a hands on approach to helping students understand the techniques of voice delivery, story telling, source research and editing.
