Voice Description
I have a resonant, deep voice with a very slight gravelly texture to it. I possess a "formal & professional style". However, as a talented character actor, I have a versatile vocal range which lends itself perfectly for "out of the box" projects. I'm particularly known for freaking out my in-laws with my "cursing baby".

My Voice Experience
When I was younger, first starting out, for some odd reason I was always cast as the "smart aleck". Can't understand that. As I've gotten older and my voice has matured a bit, (just my voice) I find myself with more narration and announcer work. However, my quirkiness has never left me and is always lurking under the surface. I'm still the person who once tried to sell my relatives his old junky car for "The Boston Globe". But my voice has acquired that quality of trust you look for when placing your financial future in the hands of "Guaranty National Bank".
My Training
I attended the Goodman School of Drama in Chicago before deciding to join the military as an Airborne Ranger. Drill Sergeants were always impressed with my ability to sound off with gusto before repelling down the side of a mountain. I graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in theater and after that, worked for the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis for a number of seasons, performing a mostly classical repertoire. Since moving to New York I have taken many classes and workshops on Voiceover Technique and I'm currently working part time in a post-production studio learning the art of sound editing for film. In that capacity I get to work on the other side of the mic, doing ADR work, Foley Recording and editing, Fx editing and many other tasks. It has helped me enormously to understand the many nuances of voice work. In addition to voice recording I am also an amateur musician and song writer.
My Studio Equipment
I have a personal Digital Audio Workstation at home using a MacBook Pro and Pro-Tools, and am able to do basic recording, mixing and editing. My home studio is not laid out in a manner that would be conducive to professional recording due to the acoustical issues with the space itself. However, it is fine for offering audition samples.
Additional Skills
When I first moved to New York I took a job as an Administrative Assistant at Columbia University where I worked on a grant studying the effects of the Chornobyl Accident on Thyroid Cancer and Leukemia. The man in charge of the grant was blind due to complications from childhood diabetes. Due to his blindness I was asked to read complicated medical and scientific material back to him for proofing. I kept that job because I was able to convey accurate comprehension from material with which I was completely unfamiliar, and because my vocal quality was soothing to the scientist. Working on that project for a many years, with a number of Russian, Belarusian, Ukrainian and British scientists, also gave me exposure to different dialects and colorful personalities.
