Voice Description

Warm and deep. I decided to start doing voiceover because I've been told I have a radio voice throughout my life. While I think I'd be suited to one of those late night love song request and dedication shows, I'll be the first to admit I'm no Barry White.

Speed up the cadence a little, and I end up being the friendly voice of authority.

If I pull an all-nighter sweetening audio for a project, my voice develops a little gravelly overtone, and I sound like the warm, grandfatherly type telling you the benefits of a good breakfast first thing in the morning.

I've done British accents, some Irish, and speak enough German and Italian to know how native speaker of those language translate to English.

My Voice Experience

I've been performing on stage in my spare time off and on for well over 30 years, and understand the essentials of using my voice, projecting and speaking clearly.

I've recorded many voiceovers for clients who hear me in meetings and decide to hire me to narrate their corporate videos.

I've done a handful of spots as well.

My Training

I have a background in theater and a degree in film and video production. I know what makes good storytelling, and how to use a voice to enhance the story being told. Cadence, diction and delivery are all critical to delivering the message, and I know how to communicate with clients to clarify the most effective means of doing just that.

My Studio Equipment

I began my audio career mixing bands in college, but with my film and video degree, quickly moved on to field recording for media production. I'm now one of a handful of field sound recordists in my market.

I've been amassing microphones for every application since the start of my career, and have a great collection of everything I need for most field recording applications. I have shotguns, cardioids, lavaliers, condenser and ribbon mics, and all of these travel to the studio quite well.

For recording gear, I have 1/4" reel to reel, DAT and a full complement of digital gear. I have a voiceover isolation booth and multiple digital audio workstations at my disposal as well.

Additional Skills

I have over 20 years' experience in film and video production. I know how to direct talent, and that gives me a unique opportunity to understand how to deliver different feels for my own voiceover work.

I work collaboratively with producers and directors to achieve the desired results, and have a wide knowledge base of various industries.
