My Voice Experience

I started by making recordings on a little cassette deck my parents gave me when I was in elementary school. From there I progressed to making low-rent "multi-track" recordings using a mixer from Radio Shack and two tape decks, recording the voices and characters so many times you almost couldn't hear them over the tape hiss of multiple "bounce tracks."

I've since graduated to more sophisticated equipment, but I still love the work. I do a lot of voice work for a PBS TV show that I make called "The Biscuit Brothers." Mostly because I'm also a co-creator, co-writer, and director so hiring myself as voice talent was easy - I loved my own resume!

From time to time I also do voice tracks for other clients like AMD, NASA, The Texas DPS, and others local to Austin, Texas - plus all the good folks who submit projects on Voice 123!

My Training

I learned about doing Voice Overs by getting a microphone and doing Voice Overs. Also, producing your own TV show helps accelerate the process, if you're interested in pursuing that track.

My Studio Equipment

I typically record and process using Sound Forge. I use a Neumann mic that really seems to sit well with my voice range. I can post the clean tracks in all manner of computerized ways, but I like to find ways of preserving realism as well - meaning sometimes the overly sterile sound of the modern studio bothers me a little. Subtle volume variations and voices that aren't too processed or compressed sound better to me - more auditory interest.

Additional Skills

I can write, edit, record, post process and finalize; just about anything you'd need in the creative or audio production world. I can actually even shoot, edit, and post a video for you if you need that - but that's a skill set for listing on a site like "Video 123" I guess, if such a site existed.
