The way my voice over career began was by luck. I was asked to fill in for someone to record a few commercials for a furniture store. That job turned into a recurring job for Lacks Furniture in Texas. I was the Spanish spokesperson for 10 years. As I gained more experience, I recorded primarily voice overs in Spanish. A number of companies I have recorded voice overs for are: KFC, White Castle, Beringer Wine, Fiesta Supermarkets, and most recently McDonald's
Working as an on-air personality at a radio station, I learned the improvisation skills needed to interact with listeners and keep them engaged. More opportunities arrived. I became the simultaneous news interpreter for the local Fox News station. I translated the news in real-time, which kept my Spanish fresh.
I received my B.A in Communications from the University of Houston with a concentration in Media Production (Radio, Television and Film). But my education didn't end there. I continue learning my acting craft via summer intensives, Master Classes, Improvisation workshops and Voice and Speech training.
In addition to voice over work, I am also a singer. I have performed in a number of musicals, pop/rock cover bands, and also write my own material. My vocal range is mezzo-soprano.
I have a simple studio setup. I own a Shure Studio condenser microphone. The computer program that I use for recording is Ableton Live, which can output .aif and .wav files. The USB interface that I use is a mobile Pre USB.
My turnaround is within 48 hours. Aside from voice over work, I have been in a children's play in which I created three different characters by changing my voice, form of speech, and physical movements.
I am fluent in Spanish and have a neutral accent, which is perfect for audiobooks and corporate videos. I can also use Mexico City (DF), and Northern Mexico (Monterrey) accents. I am familiar with Spanish (Castillian), Cuban, and Puerto Rican accents as well.
I create marketing materials and publicity for my band from concept to completion.
