Voice Description
My voice is smooth and engaging. It carries well in all environments, whether on a TV speaker in a living room, a phone receiver, or a PA horn in a public space. But, I can "speak outside the box" and take direction to do whatever the client calls for. Some voice styles include a middle class, and lower class English accent, character actors and a few celebrities from the golden age of Hollywood (Charles Boyer, Lionel Barrymore, Peter Lorre, Jimmy Stewart). My singing sound-a-likes include Nat King Cole, Johnnie Ray, Dean Martin, Louis Armstrong, Bing Crosby, Cab Calloway, Billy Eckstine, Vaughan Monroe and Jimmy Durante.

My Voice Experience
I love being a voiceover artist! I've made my living in front of a mic for twenty years now, having started out on radio in 1986, hosting a 4 hour evening jazz show five nights a week, honing delivery skills to give the listener a better appreciation of the music. After a brief stint in audio visual rentals, I became the voice of the National Federation of the Blind in 1994, recording books, magazines, and information of interest to the organization's 50,000 members. I became an adept storyteller, receiving compliments for making the Braille Monitor more enjoyable, and turning dry technical and legal information into
material easily absorbed. I created my own production studio in 2004, and record engaging commercials and narrations for clients like the department of Social and Human Services, The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Sport Chevrolet, Vermont Department of Health, and the U.S Army. I am currently narrating programs for Retirement Living TV, Link TV, and hosting an internal podcast for T. Rowe Price.
My Training
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Radio and TV Production from Miami University of Ohio, with an emphasis on performance. Relevant classes included Voice and Diction, Broadcast Journalism, and Acting for the Non Major. I received additional voiceover training from John Burr in Bethesda, MD. In addition to doing voiceover work daily, I am the leader of a seven piece swing band, where I play piano, guitar, cornet, and sing.

Additional Skills
Because I run a professional studio and have engineered hundreds of sessions with all kinds of talent, I know how to get the desired sound out of the equipment-spots that sound national, instead of local. My business skills translate into an awareness of putting the client's needs first, interacting with them in a positive, courteous manner, and delivering a professional recording on time. I take direction well, and keep sessions flowing well with my positive attitude and sense of humor. It's gotta be fun, or you aren't doing it right!
As of 2007, I am fully equipped to do high quality audio podcasts and on hold messaging with three music and two sound effects libraries, plus a phone patch for interviews.
