I have been doing voices since childhood. I can also read a news bulletin 60minute style with all the emphasis on the nouns. Because I've had six children I've been too busy to get voicework, but I know I would be so good at it. I did a drama major at the University of Qld because I enjoy acting plus I'm a singer who sings/impersonates in many styles from Joan Armatrading to Joni Mitchell, Elvis and Madame Butterfly!

Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects

I do accents from most European countries, Asian accents, different class/regional accents from England and the USA - oh yes, I do African accents too. I can talk/sing low resonant timbres passable as mens' voices or sexy vamps in medium low or squeaky little girl voices, strident little boy voices. Celebrities I do are Marilyn Monroe, Jane Fonda/Sigourney Weaver's upstate NY accents through to the 'white trash' and African American Jerry Springer audiences plus, of course, different classes/regions of Australia (Kath and Kim's 'look at moi!" through to the clenched nasal patrician tone of Prime Minister Rudd. Basically I pick up voices as with music 'by ear'.

My Voice Experience

Trust me - I'm very good. I've just never tried to get this work before because I was raising a large family.

My Training

Bachelor of Arts, UQ, (drama/media major)
Honours 2a in Media Studies. Griffith University
halfway through a Postgraduate Education Degree
Have worked as a piano teacher with the odd gig for my singing multi-instrumental talent. Mothering six and doing these studies left no time for getting/finding other work to build my resume. But now my children are getting older, my husband left and this talent is waiting to be unleashed upon the world.

My Studio Equipment

I would do an audio engineering course if I had a chance with this. My son owns expensive voice recording equipment with mixing abilility (he's a rapper) which I could learn to use or use one of the many nearby affordable recording studios in Brisbane.

Additional Skills

As a 49 year old woman whose voice could pass for any age/gender/regional dialect and with intelligence and dramatic/comedic flair, I know I could really transform some projects given a chance. I have a deep resonance yet flexibility to my tone. I just need a chance to show what I can do. I have a my space page in the music section called 'venerable vulnerable'. I sing my original songs on that page and those songs give some idea of my vocal range if not my impersonation skills.
