My Voice Experience
The first announcing job I've ever done was for a speedway in Concord, North Carolina. I did the job one Friday night, and let's just say - it was nothing that I had expected. I thought I would be in a nice warm booth calling the race from above the fans. Instead, I was stationed outside in the cold over at turn 3 with a mic in my hand. The sound on the headset was crappy at best, to make matters worse I was literally right next to the track. I did not understand a word the officials said to me. The activities didn't end until after midnight, and when I returned to the booth to retrieve my lunch (two double cheese burgers and a large fry) I discovered that someone had ravaged my food. I got home at about 2AM that night. I called the track later and told them I quit.
I did a small voice-mail message for a consultancy agency.
I was the host and producer of a kids concerns show, a required project of all students at the Carolina School of Broadcasting. I conducted a fifteen minute interview with a nutrition specialist.
I'll be honest - I'm 20 years old, and I've not much voice-over experience, but all of my instructors at the Carolina School of Broadcasting told me I had a great voice, and encouraged me to pursue voice-overs. I don't want to let them down.
