My Voice Experience

My experience primarily comes directly from the classroom. I find that to engage children, voice modulation and voice level is critically important. Though I have no professional experience, I have recorded many books for students with reading difficulties in my classroom. My goal is to make listening to a story as interesting and engaging as possible. For many years I have thought about pursuing voice recordings more completely. I believe now is the time to expand upon the enjoyment I find in my classroom by lending my voice to businesses or organizations in hopes that I might provide the type of voice they are seeking.

High School--muscials, madrigals, speech contests (poetry readings), camp counselor--skits, "ghost" stories

Additional Skills

I am an educator with extensive on-the-job-training about the ways my voice can affect an outcome --it can escalate or de-escalate a situtation. I find that I need to employ a different voice quality for different situations--excitment, perhaps, when starting a something new and wanting student buy-in; quiet calmness when trying to be mindful of a student's feelings, etc. Of course, 20 years of mothering experience comes in handy as well--many opportunities to try out all kinds of tones and voices!
