Voice Description

I have a deep, penetrating and warm voice that I have used in theatres and never need a microphone to project. I generally speak the "queen's english" (or BBC English) but can downgrade my level of speech and do a fair impersonation of my old scots accent.
I have always been told that I have a perfect soft voice for radio though again I have been able (through life experiences and training) to use it for halting and harsh purposes, resulting in a number of theatre companies separately suggesting Falstaff as a role for me. And likening me to Brian Blessed.

While abroad and speaking in a relaxed manner i am mostly commonly mistaken for South-Aftrican though I cannot hear it. I used to speak Mandarin fluently though a prolonged period of not using it means I have lost the fluence though maintained the knowledge of how to speak it. Similarly my German, Russian and French.

Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects

As I have stated I mostly have the queen's english though generally without the severe posh overtones, I also can do a Suffolk and Norfolk (similar to west country) accents. Formerly a scot I have lost my scottish accent from normal speech I can call it up from time to time. And a myriad of other accents that need to be catalogued and defined.

My Chinese is provincial and rustic in accent and is a dialect of Mandarin called "gansu hua".

My French is fairly standard, but my German is more Bavarian.

My Voice Experience

While I have a resonate and clear voice I have yet to do any paid work for voice over, only some small pieces to help out friends and colleagues during university.

My Training

While I have attended many training seminars on a vast array of subjects the only ones applicable to voiceover work would be theatrical.
I studied theatre at Alevel at Culford & Thurston, both in Suffolk. And also at University of Hull, Scarborough campus. Where I was instructed in the use of voice and control of it.
Also working with the NSDF I have picked up a few voice coaching sessions.

My Studio Equipment

I have access to powerful computers and that is about it. I have a nice microphone that records high quality, as well as ProTools and Adobe Audition.

Additional Skills

I have worked in bars, I have taught English (in china), most recently I have been working for Blizzard Entertainment. I have worked as a bouncer or security for a couple of years.
I have also worked in Theatres as an actor, stage manager, lighting and sound technician.
I can scuba dive, ski, climb and abseil as well as sail most boats and rig them too.
I have experience in flying light aircraft and helicopters. I have been riding motorcycles all my adult life and know how to drive a car.
I am an accomplished marksman with rifles, crossbows and bows.
I can program computers and studied it for many years, there is very little on a computer I cannot do. I am up to date on technological advances and most jargon.
Sportswise I have played football, played and coached rugby. And competed in field sports (javelin, discus and shot putt).
