My Voice Experience
The "Uncle that all the kids liked" is how one producer described my sound. For announcer jobs; I have been typically cast as the "un-announcer" or "the guy next door". This got me cast as the "voice of" Travel Alberta for a year now. An air of trustworthiness has landed a great deal of homebuilder announcer jobs. The "yeah, I'd buy from this company" effect.
Man on the street is another role that has worked and "that guy who everyone wants as a friend" seems to bring in jobs as well.
A national creative agency KARO -cast me to read narrative style "Brand Blunders" to illustrate classic mistakes made in Branding. 1.5 minute long spots telling stories of products like the Ford Edsel. They described my sound as being "it was like you were actually there when it happened - totally believable expert".
Was cast in 2 episodes of a Sci-Fi podcast "Silent Universe" as the character Garret Arrowney - a womanizing, hard drinking, space type cowboy secret agent.
My Training
Initally my training consisted of countless hours watching classic Looney Toons, Hanna Barbera and other cartoons.
I have taken several acting classes and am a cast member of the Calgary Opera where I am a "Super" which puts me in non-singing, on stage character roles; priests, soldiers, matador, henchman etc, referred to as "live scenery" sometimes.
I have taken many VO Classes for character, narration and general development. For a year or so I was a volunteer reader of newspapers and periodicals for the Blind and housebound with VoicePrint Canada - a national service broadcast over the net and on the SAP network of CBC Newsworld Television.
My Studio Equipment
At home I have a Cubase software program which allows me to produce broadcast quality work and is what I used to record my sessions for the Silent Universe Podcast as well as volunteer PSA's for VoicePrint Canada.
I have access to at least 2 professional studios in town.
Additional Skills
I am a senior executive and founding investor in a small Oil and Gas company and understand the business of running a business. It has made me flexible and patient and I understnd the "bottom line"
