Voice Description

My normal speaking voice is alto, when I speak quickly it trends upwards, when I speak speak slowly is trends downwards. My voice is slightly accented, but the accent is difficult to place, it has been influenced by many different experiences. I can speak easily with a southern accent, and fairly easily with a light English accent. I can be bubbly and cheerful for announcements, husky and sexy for a more serious style, and smooth with a slight accent for a book or poetry reading. I can speak with a clipped, enunciated style for clearer understanding.

My Voice Experience

I currently work for a Barnes and Noble bookstore that has an answering service that answers all incoming calls. I write and record all the messages to greet these calls, changing them occasionally as circumstances change (sales, special offers, special items of interest). The phone number is (215) 699-3099. I also make announcements in the store on the overhead PA system. I am often told by coworkers, friends, and strangers that I should do voiceover work, particularly when I answer in my sexy voice. I also love to read books and poetry aloud, even occasionally romance books, just for the fun of it.

My Training

I have been a stage actress in school and community theatre productions for over 20 years. I have developed several accents over the years for different productions: New York, British, and Romanian. I lived in the south so I can easily do a natural Southern accent, and I live close to Philly, so in a pinch I can take on that accent. Also my family is from the New England area, so I can do a light New England accent, though I would have to work on it to make it stronger.
