Voice Description
Thursday,31,January,2008
Gentlmen:
This is my first time attempt to enter the voice talent/voice over industry.
I have worked in the petroleum service
industry for nearly thirty years, and,in more recent years,I have been approached by at least three complete strangers, both on and off the wellsite, who have praised my vocal qualities and strongly urged to apply
to vocal talent audition and voice over
agencies.
Hence,this initiative.
I come from Bucksport,Maine-born,20,
September,1945,and have a slight to moderate,"Downeast" accent, which I CAN suppress and render into "American Standard" version,if I put my mind to it.
I have recited and recorded three short
poems,by Robert Frost-about three and one half minutes,total-on a digital palm size recorder, and which I can burn to CD,siutable for "snailmail" forwarding,or else,e-mailing,with the right software, from the Albany,Laramie,Wyoming,Public Library.
Though certainly not "top notch" talent, such as Richard Kiley, narrator for the
PBS series,"NATURE",I feel confident enough to look forward to receiving your hoped for reply:"You have possibilities, but, you need some expert coaching and lots of practice,to perfect your elocution, cadence, and tonal control."
"Perhaps, you would perform better in a regional market, such as New England, where your "Downeast" accent would be better understood and appreciated."
As a novice,I would be very happy, just to "get my foot in the door."
I would appreciate a timely reply,please.
I can vary my range from tenor to baritone. Also,I can tone my voice to sound "as sober as a judge",pronouncing sentence on a defendant.
Also,I had two years of high school french, and can read and pronouce it fluently,at least the French Canadian style.
Also,I had two years of high school
latin, and can read and pronounce that
"daed" language with fluency.
Also,I can speak in a "cold-blooded",
"impersonal bureaucratic",tone of voice.
Sincerely,
Charles L. Crocker

Additional Skills
My english teachers-8th grade, high school,college-have praised my prose writing ability.
Also,in 2003,eleven years after,my father passed away,I wrote an eighteen page Crocker family biography,in narrative form, suitable for camcorder recording, whereby my (older,by nine years) brother and I would alternate reading paragraphs,to be burned onto
DVD-backup copies made-to be passed onto my brother's two daughters-
my nieces-both married eight years,if only they-at least one of them-would
make me a great uncle!
So far,"No luck."
However,I have fanticized/half way seriously considered starting a business,titled,"...Across The Generations...",to preserve family memories, identities, and cultural continuity,by the sense of "dramatic
presence",that camcorder technology
can best impart to future generations-even better than the most skilfully written prose and even when accompanied by the most carefully selected and most fondly remembered
family photos.
The latter project is still, very much,"up in the air."
