Voice Description

My voice can sound warm and professional; silly and fun, or soothing and dreamy. It can sound sexy and inviting, or old and tired.Most people have described my voice as being soft and comforting, but I have disguised my voice and tricked people into thinking I was a man on the phone.I do a decent Glinda the good witch voice, and I've scared people with my dog bark and duck quack! I am a soprano singer, but my priamry speaking voice is alto. I can bark orders like a nagging wife, or convince people that the nastiest ice cream is decadence in its purest form.

My Voice Experience

You learn to be a number of voices when you read stories as a pre-school teacher. I love imagery, so I worked at captivating what voice was needed for any given character.Eventually, I did a voiceover recording of those fairy tales for children leaving the school I was teaching in at the time. Then, I decided to enter the grown-up world and recorded voiceover textbook readings for the blind and disabled at Calvary Christian Academy High School. I have worked as a voiceover radio talent for rented time space at Villanova University radio station.

My Training

I was a music education major at West Chester University with a concentration in voice. Consequently, I have had training in how to enunciate properly.I have also had the pleasure of attending numerous voiceover seminars in the Philadelphia area, and participated in a voiceover audition recording for commercials.My daily job consists of constantly communicating with other mental health agencies. I am frequently the first contact that a client and/or agency encounters, so I know how to sound professional. I am currently a Care Coordinator for a School Based Behavioral Health Program; that amounts to numerous phone calls a day.I recorded the voicemail message on the office phone to be especially calming for any agitated parent of a client calling. It seems to have met with success.

Additional Skills

In addition to working in Behavioral Health,I also teach pre-school music classes on Saturdays. This class focuses on vocal performance and rhythm patterns taught through the voice.I am currently working on a Lullaby CD that includes recorded stories, poems as well as original music.
