I'm a naturally warm-sounding female voice talent that sounds particularly good doing complex material. I come across as assured and strong while at the same time engaging the listener. I've done a number of industrial pieces for international companies, museum exhibits, multimedia narrations. I've also done dramatic characterizations, movie narrations, voice-overs for TV and radio commercials and professional presentations.

My voice-acting varies from babies to older women. I also do comic voices and dramatic interpretations. I'm very flexible and am open to trying anything!

My Voice Experience

I began working in radio while a freshman in college when I was hired to work at a country station in Petal, Mississippi. I changed schools to UH and worked as a traffic announcer (Ann Parker) for Shadow Broadcasting for several years. I am now a freelance writer developing museum exhibits, multimedia presentations and web sites. I've written several scripts for clients that have in turn become my voice-over scripts.

My voice is featured in several exhibits at the Houston Museum of Natural Science including several planetarium shows, the anthropology hall, the video wall for the chemistry hall and the podcasts for the current "Lucy" exhibits. These pieces have required a substantial amount of voice-acting, creating a variety of characterizations to communicate the subject matter.

My voice is also featured in the Shell Exploration and Production Exhibit in Rijswijk, The Netherlands, an exhibit I also helped create. I wrote and produced many of the videos in that exhibit. Other works have included videos for the Mayborn museum in Waco and the Holocaust Museum, Houston.

My Training

I am a great example of on-the-job, real-life training. I've had professional training as a radio personality as well as in doing voice-overs.

20 years ago, I was a freshman college student who had to find a job. There were no jobs in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, unless you went through the college job office. And, since I was an out of state student, the school only sent me to one interview - WMFM, Gold Country, FM 106.9, the home office of which was in a trailer located in a cow pasture in Petal, Mississippi.

Following that, I put myself through college as a traffic announcer and voice over talent in Houston, Texas. I've done all kinds of voice pieces since my first time in front of a mic, and have worked with a variety of coaches to develop my skills. My latest training has been with Jim Conlan of Houston and Bettye Zoller.

My Studio Equipment

I have a Rhod mic and M-Audio pre-amp, and record on my MacBookPro using Audacity. Other editing programs are available to me if needed.

Additional Skills

I've written industrial and educational scripts as well as performed them. My latest "fun" project is as producer of an old time radio show which will be taped at my home during the christmas holiday and then made into a podcast.

I've written and recorded about a truly WIDE variety of topics, from the rise of australopithicenes in Africa to how best to perform a gravel pack completion in an open hole environment. Buffalo migrations, nanotechnology, digging for oil in Beaumont, the early history of the Federal Reserve... it's all old hat. Just don't make me do any math!
