Voice Description

My voice is well suited for documentaries - it is strong and resonant, calm and soothing.
My voice can be sexy and alluring, tender and caring - great for audio reading of books - adult or childrens.
Strongest strength is my ability to put people into a calm space with my voice - meditative, and take them to different states of being. I have the same ability to use my voice to excite and arouse people to get active - my demo cd reflects a variety of voices my voice trainer felt best demonstrated my strengths...
I would like to use my voice in ways that uplift the listener, hold their interest, make them want for more...those who hear my voice tell me this is the effect it has for them.

My Voice Experience

You heard this person speaking in another room. Something seemed to draw you towards that voice. It's richness and exhuberance made you feel good! A laugh which filled the block made you smile - you felt happy just hearing it!

You entered a quiet softlit room, becoming aware of a soothing, silkiness wrapping itself about you - a voice that swept you up and away to a beautiful beach, that seemed to fill you mind with the images of its words. Your body relaxed as you inhaled and exhaled following the voice's directions, feeling as you did so, your entire being let go of all tension, tensions you did not even know you carried...you wanted to stay forever with this voice.

These are descriptions of my voice and the effect I am told it has on many many people who have heard me. I am completely new to this industry and wish to test the waters perse, and see if my voice, which may be a gift - can be utilized to help others and possibly allow me to make some income, for which I am in need.

My Training

I trained One on One in Vancouver, B.C. with a voice actor who has over 25 years experience in the industry. I also attended a two day workshop given by the same actor later that same year.

As part of my training with her, we went to a professional studio and created a Voice Demo CD which I have, but which to date I have not done anything with.

I write and have read my poetry at poetry readings at a cafe in New Westminster as well as at a presentation where I received the honor of being included in their publication by the Delta Arts Association.

I have lead groups in meditation an numerous occassions and enjoy immensely reading for others.

I have a diploma in creative writing which I earned over a two year period doing night school. My primary writing is poetry, but during the pursuit of my Diploma discovered a love of all forms of writing.

My Studio Equipment

My knowledge of audio engineering is at this time limited. I have my own computer and a microphone. I am sure that there are many professional studios in the Vancouver area where I could go, as I did when I created my audio demo.

Additional Skills

I have a great love of life which I express in my voice! Having worked as a volunteer chaplain for two years I am highly sensitive to people's emotions and know how to create sacred space with another person. I have strong feelings about what I consider fair and true and can express this passionately with my voice. I believe we have such power in the way we use our voices -and I feel that those of us who are able to articulate clearly and have the added ability to express our emotions through our voices, should and must do so. Over the years I have worked as a receptionist and used my voice to calm clients as well as uplift them...
