Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects
I'm from the midwest and am most comfortable in my own dialect or a southern dialect, but I can lose the accent pretty easily. I can do other accents such as Australian and South African as well. As far as impersonations, I do a spot on movie trailer guy or basically anyone with a really deep voice, i.e. Optimus Prime from Transformers.
My Voice Experience
Honestly, I don't have a whole lot of experience. That's why I'm here, I'm trying to change that. I work as an adult educator and everyone that I teach tells me that my voice needs to be put to better use. I recently moved in with a roommate that is a sound guy and he built a voice booth. Soooo, I'm putting two and two together and seeing if I can get this thing off the ground. So far my only experience has been my own homemade music and internal instructional videos for my employer, whose management also recognized my voice talent.
My Training
My only formal education comes from my job, in which I was required to learn sound engineering with a Macintosh computer (i.e. garageband, logic pro). My degrees are in the Arts, but not performing. My roommate and best friend is a sound guy and I work in his booth. He is currently teaching me everything he knows about sound engineering and processing. In today's world, it appears as if the post processing is as important as the recording, so these skills seem necessary for me to learn.
My Studio Equipment
insulated sound booth, suspended condenser mic, pop filtered through a tube preamp with more Macintosh computing power than one really needs. if I need anything else I have access to most of it through my job.
Additional Skills
I am a teacher and am very comfortable in narration mode. I'm used to talking for long periods of time without stopping while following a script or an outline. I'm very easygoing and flexible, and since my studio is in my home, I can provide a pretty short turn around time.
