Voice Description
My voice is highly versatile and flexible. I have a facility for spoken language, so it's fairly easy to make adjustments and adapt to new things. I am very comfortable working in a very wide variety of accents and character roles. Whether in "character" or not, I am equally at home with all kinds of dialogue - comedic or dramatic, sarcastic or sincere, emotional or professional. For commercial projects, my voice is upbeat and warm, and I can add on whatever layers are required, like steady and mature, or enthusiastic and bouncy, or even and soothing, or deeper and more seductive.

My Voice Experience
Voice has always been a great way for me to get into the mind of a character. While I am still at the beginning of my voice over career, I've gotten to explore through a number of vocally intensive character roles on stage and film. I am frequently cast, and especially enjoy, roles with Southern or British accents, and with Shakespearean/classical speech.
I have worked for a decade with young children, so my voice lends itself to very animated read-alouds of children's books, but also to soothe and calm extremely effectively. The Children's Theater Company in Manhattan recorded my voice while I was working as a drama coach there, as a teaching tool for dramatic expression and clarity. In a different vein, I was cast by a small PAC a in get-out-the-vote radio ad near the 2008 election.
My Training
I earned a B.A. in Theater Studies from Duke University, where I minored in French and Elementary Education. I work as an actress, teaching artist, tutor, and nany, and have also worked as a classroom teacher, a children's drama and speech coach, and a newspaper editor.
I studied Voice and Speech extensively as part of my major, focused primarily on the techniques of Kristin Linklater and Patsy Rodenburg. I have studied voice especially as it relates to Shakespeare in workshops with Patsy Rodenburg, and done additional study at the Michael Howard Studios in Manhattan.
I have studied voice over specifically, with Jane Dashow, as we prepared to record my demos. I also regularly practice yoga and Alexander technique, which helps me get rid of unwanted physical tension and blocks, and access my entire body to support my voice.
