I am a high school English teacher who has done PA annoucing for local sports teams, primarily basketball introductions. Before teaching, I hosted a live 90 minute morning show on OCTV, which is the station at Oxnard College under the direction of Leroy Robinson. I have also added my voice for radio commercials used by our local cable station, Jones Intercable, in Oxnard. I am currently studying with Lynnanne Zager at the Kalmenson and Kalmenson studios.
I am currently studying with Lynnanne Zager at the Kalmenson and Kalmenson studios. I have a teaching credential in English, which helps me with diction and annunciation as I teach to 170 freshmen a day for the past ten years. I have worked with Leroy Robinson, director of the tv station at Oxnard College, where I hosted a morning show that ran three times a week for 90 minutes a day. It was a talk show, where we had guests come in and talking with them on subjects ranging from infertility to hearing impaired to chronic fatigue syndrome.
The most relevant skill I possess for the voice over industry is a clear voice that has daily practice reading to my English classes. Whether it is the classics in poetry or drama, I read them to my classes so that they get the idea of what the writer was trying to say, rather than have them read it to themselves or have them read it with a flat intonation.
