Experience, according to Merriam-Webster is..
The direct observation of or participation in events as a basis of knowledge. Yep, got that. In the past 30 years I've been a Navy Communicator, Prime Time Radio Jock, Off-Camera Announcer, On-Camera News Anchor, Audio/Video Geek and part time stage actor.
You may have heard me as the voice of your local weather report on Terresterial Radio Stations from Vermont to West Texas or the voice that got your attention with "Breaking News".
It's even possible you have heard me on numerous internet and broadcast radio stations across the US and the UK.
I have extensive on the job training in live sound, radio station operations, indy film sound engineer, lighting and set design.
The heart of my studio is a Dual Monitor Apple IMac. I use a Presonus FirePod Interface which provides 8 channel selectable inputs for Studio and Acoustic instrument mics and for electronic instruments like my vintage Roland Midi Synth.
My audio recording, editing and processing software of choice is Cubase. Cubase is a work horse and gives me up to 40 powerful audio and digital channels with real-time, on the fly editing and tons of VST instruments, special effects, Royalty Free Music and much, much more.
I also keep Pro Tools, Final Cut Pro and Garage Band handy for flexibility. Each has it's own personality and style, like me!
Since no respectable studio would be complete without the ability to monitor and tweak sound, I use noise canceling Yahama HS-50 pro studio grade Monitors. Of course, since most projects will never be heard on speakers of this quality, I also have low and medium grade multi-media speakers so I can maximize playback for web projects and podcasts or even your SUV.
For quality control purposes, project Post Production is always tested using a number of common audio programs like Quick Time, ITunes and Windows Media Player.
And hey I'm a small business and proud of it so I have Windows Office. That gives you hassle free ad copy and script transfer as well as professional invoicing, records and project management. Rather do PDF's no problem. Oh and if you need jazzy CD lables, Power Point presentations with narration or a full blown video voice I can do that too!
I am first and foremost a Voice Artist, but I'm no stranger to the business world. I have over 20 years experience in communications, communications electronics, contracts and programs management and routinely managed Naval Air Traffic Control installation projects worth over $20 million dollars.
Like many of you, I've worn lots of different hats. Security Manager, Top Secret Control Assistant, Training Manager, Head of Quality Control and Safety Manager to name just a few.
I'm not allowed to live in the studio so in my off time, I'm a film and stage actor with credits in Indy films and community theater. Oh, and if you've heard David Crush doing your local weather forecasts, That's me!
I can often be found either watching golf or playing it. If you play golf then you know what I mean. I'm a 3 handicap! Golf courses, golf clubs and golf balls are my only 3 handicaps!
