Voice Description

If you need a hard sell, you will get a hard sell. Soft sell, that too. I mainly stride for radio work, using my voice to move a listener, or to make one understand, listen up, or just pay attention. Depending on the client, I mainly will do what they expect, but throw a little of my own self in there to be easily identifiable. I can go to a really high voice (even backwards) to a really low voice without pitch correction. I love doing the low voice. Makes the track deep and enjoyable. I always hated squeaky voice overs! I can do a lot of weird things with my voice, so it depends. Mainly I do what the client needs. The client is always right!

My Voice Experience

I mainly worked in radio before doing voice overs. I am a musician too. I started out in radio working for Cosy 98.3 in South Haven Michigan as a board operator, then moved to Florida for a while and worked for a great Clear Channel station TK101, in Pensacola Florida also as a board-op. I mainly know the inside of a station, and how spots, liners, etc. are mostly timed. I have a good ear, and also produce my own music whenever I can. As far as voice overs, I'm just recently trying to get this going, because everything else just wont work. I have been on radiodaddy(website) about a year or two, and have done many many free voice overs for people just for exposure. From online radio, to some terrestrial stations. I have done quite a bit on there. I use Cakewalk and a wide selection of VST/DSP plugins including Waves Mercury (yes it has a SSL channel strip) and some other junk. I use a pop filter (of course) and am currently in the process of getting an EVRE20 microphone. I have one that is good, but I've used these, and know I need one. Other than that I have been contacting people directly looking for work, and will not stop.

My Training

I trained myself mainly, because I enjoy it. I can run a million dollar studio once I figure the board out. I know voice overs are produced with a good clear signal, mostly 48khz or higer, and use a good compressor, gate and pop filter. That is what I've learned. If you need education, yes you may somewhat, but I think it's easier just doing it. I've worked in radio too. I understand it, so I think it would be a good match for me doing radio imaging.

My Studio Equipment

Cakewalk Sonar LE, Waves Mercury plugins, Audioactive Production Studio, Audio Technica Digital Reference DR-VX2, Fruity Loops Studio 7, Edirol PC50, Tascam M-06.

Additional Skills

Worked in radio for Clear Channel, Southwest Michigan Broadcasting, and have personal knowledge of recording music. Can use a metronome, play drums, guitar, bass, keyboard, also sing a little. Doing voice over work is something I look forward to. All these helped make voice overs become easier and more fluent.
