Voice Description
I was born and grew up in Singapore to American and Chinese parents. As a result, my voice is almost completely uncoloured and free from a natural accent. It is thus extremely adaptable to many different tonalities, accents and character suggestions. It can vary from warm, close and personal for storytelling or narrations to powerful and dramatic for speeches or even for commercials. I can also deliver precise and articulate "straight" readings for presentations or educational material where clarity is the main priority.

My Voice Experience
I have been acting since the age of 4 and doing voice-overs since the age of 6. Being dramatic, funny and generally entertaining is a fundamental part of my character! Since 2003 most of my work has been done for oral assessment examinations in Singapore, as well as the recording of pre-show and pre-interval announcements for plays and other theatre presentations at which I have been doing sound or lights.
My Training
Theatre studies and drama at A levels.
I am a trained musician (my parents are both music teachers) and I play bass guitar, drums, percussion and some acoustic guitar.
During the day I work as a professional sound engineer, doing mainly live sound but also some recording eg for school music examinations.
I am also a communications skills trainer for a local tertiary institution, and run classes in sound and lighting for local secondary schools and junior colleges.
My Studio Equipment
I have a small home studio which I use for recording voice demos as well as classical guitar tracks for my father (he is a composer and performer)
Recording and processing equipment:
Lexicon Omega USB interface
Event Tuned Reference 6 nearfield monitors
DBX 4066 quad compressor
K&M popkiller mic windscreen
K&M microphone stands
Microphones:
Beyerdynamic MC930 and Opus 69
Rode NT1 and NT1A
Shure SM57
Cables are either Klotz or Canare, with Neutrik connectors. All wiring is balanced and shielded.
Additional Skills
As a Christian I enjoy reading the Bible and often experiment with dramatic readings of certain passages or in trying to come up with character voices for Old or New Testament characters.
I was a history teacher for several years in secondary school and during that period I made use of accents and general vocal madness to make my lessons more interesting, or frightening as the case might have been...
