Voice Description
My voice is exceptionally flexible, offering anything from crisp, friendly style for documentaries and corporate work, to an upbeat, zany craziness for comedy and commercials.
My exceptional versatility has been proven by the wide range of voices and characters I have successfully portrayed. I've been the serious, educated voice of documentaries, the crazy professor or talking mouse for cartoons, and the guy next-door for commercials.
This excellent range has been tried and tested many times in the numerous audiobooks I've recorded. Whether the book requires serious narrator, an old lady or a pirate, I've turns my talent to producing work of tremendous variety and quality.

Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects
I am a British voice artist with an excellent range of dialects. My native accent is RP - the nice, clear British English used by newscasters and classical Shakespearean actors.
In addition, I can offer several alternative British dialects:
Cockney (London): If you're in the USA, think the Geico Gecko!
Yorkshire (a Northern English dialect)
Gloucestershire (a West of England dialect)
Norfolk (an Eastern England dialect)
Scottish (Lowland Scots)
Please note that all the dialects listed here are to a VERY HIGH STANDARD: if they're listed on my profile, they're done right!
I can also offer German (Northern German) and Russian dialects.
My Voice Experience
I am a highly experienced voiceover artist. By the time I started in the voice business, I was already a busy theater and TV actor, having trained in London at LAMDA.
I got my start in the business in 2002, by recording narrations for documentary movies and training videos. I quickly moved onto audiobooks, which have remained one of my main focuses. I am in particular demand as an audiobook artist due to my exceptional range of character voices. My favorite book so far is the classic 'Treasure Island', which demanded every bit of my versatility and experience!
I've also worked extensively in ADR, radio drama and commercials, and have more recently added animation to my portfolio.
Several of my audiobooks are available on Amazon, and my latest book, 'Ostrich Boys', has just been released by Random House.
My long career and experience now enable me to put forward a top quality product across the widest range of voice projects, from kid's cartoons to documentary films.
My Training
I trained in London at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA), one of the oldest and finest drama schools in the world.
My Studio Equipment
Basic equipment includes:
Microphone: Shure SM7 (studio dynamic) and MXL V67G (LDC)
Pre-amp: ART Voice Channel and Focusrite
Compressor/Gate: Behringer Autocom MDX1600
D-A Interface: Focusrite Saffire
Recording Software is generally Cubase, sometimes Reaper or Ableton Live.
PLEASE NOTE: I like to put a strong emphasis on excellent microphones and a simple, top quality signal chain.
I have chosen microphones that suit my voice, and have prepared my studio carefully for optimum acoustics.
I can provide clean tracks or add compression, EQ, gate etc to suit the client.
Additional Skills
I hold a PhD in economic history, and a degree in Classics from Cambridge University: these have been useful in historical documentary projects.
I am also a skilled engineer, particularly with automotive and electronics, and have used this knowledge on several technical projects such as training videos.
