Voice Description

I can provide offbeat and humorous characterizations, I have worked as an artist in the animation field and was encouraged then to provide potential voice-overs. I can sing as a mid-range male voice, extending into the tenor range. I enjoy reading out loud to my kids and have explored various vocal characterizations in conjunction with the story in question. I know how to narrate scripture, to make it sound almost conversational. I have a pleasant sales voice, and my customer service background lends an assertiveness to the product I am speaking about.

Southern dipthongs, some UK accents, Eastern Indian, Hispanic, John Stamos as Elvis; Capt Kirk, Bones and Mr. Scott from the original USS Enterprise, surfer dude/stoner/skater. Televangelist, Slavic/Russian mobster, Meatwad from ATHF, assorted Disney characters, Winnie da pooh, stutterers, crazies/schizophrenics/people suffereing hallucinations. (worked in psych for 6 years, I got this down pat). Drill Sergeant, Computer Nerd, Christopher Walken, Floyd the Barber from Andy Griffith, Dirty Harry, Sean Connery, 80's computer inflections, husky older woman, psychiatrist with ocd... you name it, I can probably do it.

My Voice Experience

I have handled irate customers on the phone, I have counselled suicidal and depressed people, on the phone and in person. I've been bugged by tons of people over the years that I should be a comedian, or a radio personality. I have done humorous announcements and skits in church. I have participated in a few singing groups and worship teams over the years. I would love a chance to represent a product, act out a cartoon character, or dramatize an audiobook.

My Training

I worked in animation for 5 years (as a digital artist) and have experience in getting projects done on a deadline.
I currently pursue vocal training for a church worship team that I sing in. I sing male harmonies/tenor, but can sing in the 'average-guy' range.
I have read books on dialogue, and pacing, as I currently am writing a fantasy novel.
My original degree is in behavioral health, which focuses much on communication dynamics, such as assertiveness and the power of gentle persuasion.

I have a studio, and a partner who mixes all of this stuff together. I will list what it is shortly.

Additional Skills

I enjoy reading science fiction and fantasy and have a feel for reading those types of stories.
Not to overly repeat myself, but... I am the father of four kids, and have read bijillions of stories to them over the years. Our favorites were the Redwall books by Brian Jaques, which has a bunch of characters, my favorites are the moles who have their prominent Scottish accent written out verbatim.
I have a great sense of humor, and I feel that I can convey that to my hearers.
I currently run a pool parts company, and serve as its sole (national) sales rep.
Again, I have worked as a counselor, and am very comforable talking to people, even convincing complete and total strangers that there is hope in spite of serious opposition. I also served on a crisis-response team, and had a good track record for talking irate and combative patients down. ( i.e. crisis intervention training)
