Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects

American accents: Northern; “Fargo” to “Bar Harbor.” Eastern: “Park Avenue” to “Brooklyn.” Southern: “Plantation Gentility” to “Ozark Hillbilly.” Western: “Cowboy" to "Hispanic.” World dialects: British, Cockney, Irish, French, Italian, German, Russian, Greek, Middle Eastern, Pakistani.

My Voice Experience

Reading out loud is something I have had a passion for since my grandmother taught me to read from her old MgGuffy readers. I have been recording commercial voice overs since people started asking me to after hearing me speak. I contracted several years with the planetarium at the Museum of the Rockies in Bozeman, MT, doing narrations and characters. While pursuing a Masters degree in Media Arts at the University of Montana, I especially emphasized voice over work in my coursework and personal projects, and was in constant demand by my classmates as voice talent for their projects. Most recently I recorded all of the literary and character passages for a special program on Montana Public Radio, KUFM, entitled Death and the Western Tradition.

My Training

I have worked professionally as an actor since the early nineties, and have been active in the theatre since childhood. I am a member of Actors Equity Association and am eligible for SAG and AFTRA. I have a Master of Fine Arts degree in Media Arts, and I emphasised voice work heavily in that program. I also taught acting for the camera. I worked regularly in a sound studio, recording my own voice and music, as well as engineering for other students and professional projects for the university. I am a proficient video editor, with experience using a vast array of media softwear programs including: Pro Tools, Final Cut Pro, After Affects, Photshop, Quick Time and DVD Studio Pro.

My Studio Equipment

Shure FM50 mic, Eurorack UB1202 mixer, Soundtrack Pro, Final Cut Pro, Mac Sound Studio

Additional Skills

I am a multi-talented, multi-abilitied artist. The basis of nearly all of my work rises directly from my ear--my sense of rhythm and tone. Although I work professionally chiefly as a stage actor in plays and musicals, my BA is in creative writing and my MFA is in Media Arts. I approach all of my work as a poet and a singer first--everything else stems from that foundation.
