Voice Description

My voice is middle range, sophisticated and what I like to call "believable". For narration/audiobooks I use a conversational style so the listener doesn't feel she is being lectured. For commercials I use a fun, upbeat tone or warm but authoritative style depending on content.

Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects

I do a few accents ( Federal Hill, New York, British, Russian)and a few characters (angry Chinese Lady, Older Jewish Woman, Squeeky cartoon voice). These are all done in the spirit of fun and should not be taken seriously.

My Voice Experience

Most of my experience is with radio commercials, instruction tapes, narration for special events. My dream job is television voice over narration. I do have some on camera experience but prefer working behind the scenes. Some of my clients include Mohegan Sun, Princess House Crystal, Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce and RI Broadcasters Association.

My Training

I graduated form the University of RI in 1986 with a degree in broadcast journalism. I worked as a reporter/anchor, announcer/DJ, and finally as a co-host for a morning talk show. During my years in broadcasting I recorded hundreds of commercials. As part of my broadcast duties, I introduced artists at various music events including the Newport Jazz Festival.
I worked for Catherine Gibbs business school as a public speaking instructor concentrating on accent correction.

My Studio Equipment

I have an at-home studio which is still under constrution but is nearly complete. I use Audacity and Sound Forge software to record and edit.

Additional Skills

I am the director of a non-profit animal rescue orgamization and have a special affinity for animals. For this reason, I will not accept VO work for companies that test their products on animals.
