My Voice Experience
It all began the summer of 1991 at a McDonald's drive-thru window in Billings, Montana. Compliment after compliment about how I should be working in radio rather than fast food. Flash forward 20 years past the BA, the restaurant industry, culinary school, substitute teaching, graduate school to now. What does it all add up to? 20 years of using my voice to communicate expertly through theatre, waiting tables, and teaching. I may have just begun my foray into voice over work armed with only a few demos, a couple of classes with David Lawrence XVII, a shiny, new microphone, and an indomitable spirit. But I know that if you discount me for starting my life over and pursuing what I really love, then you will miss out on of the greatest voices about to be known.
My Training
SECRETS of VOICE OVER MASTER CLASS with David Lawrence XVII, 2011
IMPROV at The Groundlings School with Karen Maruyama, 2011
MFA Acting, University of Idaho, 2009, studies concentrated in Stanislavski's System, musical theatre, and Shakespeare
B.A., Theatre Arts, Rocky Mountain College, 1997
My Studio Equipment
AT-2020 USB microphone
2009 Toshiba Laptop with dual core processor, Windows Vista, Microsoft Home/Office
Additional Skills
I have been teaching throughout my working career: substitute teaching elementary school, coaching high school competitive drama students, directing a play, training hundreds of waiters, reciting menu descriptions with educational explanations of exotic foods, cooking techniques, or wine pairings, or teaching public speaking to recent collegians. I have learned through years of experience coupled with a desire to always improve my teaching ability: that the way I speak to an audience conveys more information than the information itself. I am speaking with a motivational integrity and a positive attitude that are strengthened with empathy to support the learner. I feel I am highly suitable for any educational voice over endeavor.
