My Voice Experience
I was a fulltime radio announcer from 1973 - 2000, so I've literally cut tens of thousands of spots and done some of everything with deliveries ranging from the sublime to the ridiculous. (You've almost done it all when you've played a deep-voiced gnat!)
Since 1999 have freelanced radio and TV promo & commercial voiceovers, targeted radio weather forecasts and dropins of all types.
My Training
No college degree; my dad was a minister, so my exposure to public speaking came early and often!
Other than band and music classes, speech was the only elective I took at both the high school and college level.
I got my first radio job the year before I graduated high school and have been at it ever since, so my "training" was all on-the-job experience.
I've worked in the following metro markets: New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Pittsburgh, Baltimore/Washington, Greensboro, N.C., Panama City, Fla.
My Studio Equipment
Two Windows XP PCs with full audio software suite including virtually unlimited multi-track recording & editing, file conversion & disc burning software, Behringer Eurorack MX1604A board, Shure BG 2.1 microphone.
Additional Skills
Some experience in apartment maintenance and auto dealerships would give me an insight into "how-to" voiceover presentations in these fields.
I also have a strong interest in the music business in general, thanks to (actually predating) my radio career. I sing, and have drums, keyboards, a bass and three guitars in the studio. I won't say I play well enough to be a one-man jingle factory, but they could be employed to comic effect! In other words, if you ever want a humorous music store spot featuring someone playing the guitar poorly, I could be your guy!
Other interests inclide science, nature, religion, movies, television.
