My Voice Experience

Each job is different and I adjust my vocal quality and delivery to match the message. As an example, I recently did an on hold message for K. Hovnanian Homes to a specific musical piece they’d chosen and offered another read to a piece of my choosing. They loved them both! Some of the characters I’ve done are Espio from a video game called Sonic Heroes, a little James Bond want-to-be cartoon guy called Hugo that, I believe, is a Nokia downloadable game. On a more serious note, I’ve been the announcer for a number of Casinos, voiced and produced the audio for a promo that ran in the Las Vegas Airport for upcoming shows at the Las Vegas Hilton and radio voice-overs for Time Warner Cable radio spots and many local and out of state car dealers just to name a few.

My Training

I cut my teeth as a morning DJ at San Diego State University on the campus radio station, KCR. Then it was on to KGB, a highly rated classic rock station, writing, voicing and producing commercials, promos, PSA’s and programs. From there, I was hired at 91-X/XTRA to be their Production Director. Finally I went independent and bought my own studio and have been writing, voicing, producing, mixing and mastering audio. Since the kids still have shoes, I consider myself successful.

My Studio Equipment

The mic I like is a Neumann U-87 but I also have a Sennheiser MKH 416 and a Sony C-48. My preamps are the Avalon 737vt and Pendulum Audio MDP-1, both tube pre's and very detailed.

For ISDN, I use the Telos Zephyr.

I have a Gentner DH-20 telephone hybrid to handle the phone patch duties.

Additional Skills

With my extensive music and sound effects library I do a lot of sound design, make audio logos, and match music and sfx to video projects to enhance the overall wow factor for the viewer. Also, I do forensic audio for legal firms, insurance companies and private detectives.
