Voice Description

I have a neutral, American Midwest "accent". There are, therefore, no distracting qualities to lessen the impact of the message. I talk "to" the audience, not "at" the audience. I consider my audience to be one person, allowing for a more intimate approach to the message. Inflection and proper phrasing are important to me. In the case of commercial production, I consider a commercial nothing more than an imperative statement. Therefore, the verbs are very important. I have been told my voice is smooth, easy to listen to, and understandable.

My Voice Experience

I have voiced radio and TV commercials, promos, PSAs, etc. for broadcast stations in Michigan, New York, and Berlin, Germany (American Forces Television). I have also performed as news reporter, anchor, weather reporter, and sportscaster in those same stations. While I feel I was hired for my voice quality, my writing, interviewing, and production skills have also been positive assets.

My Training

All training has been on-the-job. (Since 1962)

My Studio Equipment

The output of my "Realistic" brand stereo mixer and "Shure" SM82 microphone have been sufficient to satisfy the news and commercial production needs of the radio station for which I have been working since 2002.

I am annually called upon to provide the commentary for the St. Patrick's Day parade in Utica, New York.

At the request of the author, I have recorded a CD of a childrens book.
