Voice Description

As a professional actor my voice is one of my main tools, and as such, I can portray a huge number of characters and tones. I am 30, but can sound like a teenager or a young parent. My most natural voice would be that of a young up and coming professional, specifacally for car or beer commercials. I have a very easy going sound which is warm and deep for narrations. My own personality brings a sexy and fun tone for a variety of projects reqiring a trustworthy youthful narrator. I am a great cold reader and make things sound natural and relaxed without much rehearsal. I am very well spoken and have a smooth and professional sound for presentations or explanations. I am also a singer and can perform in many styles including, rock, pop, musical theatre, folk, country, and even faux opera. My vocal range is low b to high a. I would also be excellent at character voices for cartoon voice overs. My background is Scottish, although I speak with a west coast Canadian accent. I have no problem learning dialects, keeping them consistentand authentic. I can do a variety of U.K. accents including Edinburgh and Glasgow Scottish, Cockney and Proper English, also Austrailian, New Zealand, South African, German and Russian. My natural voice is most like a West Coast U.S. accent, but I can also perform several east coast accents including Boston and New York.

My Voice Experience

My acting career has allowed me to perform many different characters and roles. One of the most fun roles I've played has been The Narrator in The Rocky Horror Show. I was able to use the full range of my voice for this fun and campy stage production. I've also done professional voice over work on feature films including The Hitcher 2 starring Jake Busey. My Training

I have a BFA in acting which included a radio drama component. In addition, I've taken voice over courses and honed my technique though dozens of auditions and professional voice over jobs. I have extensive recording studio training with The Young Canadians of the Calgary Stampede, a performing group I used be be a member of. The stage was enormous, and we performed to an average of 17000 a night over the 10 days of the Calgary Stampede. Becauce of all the factors, the whole show was recorded as well as having a live mix. I've performed solo work as well as group work and can consequently be a strong soloist or blend with a group.

Additional Skills

I have a very good knowledge of my voice, what it is capable of and its limitations. Speaking and singing are two of the most enjoyable things for me to do and I have worked very hard to get to the level I am at right now.
