I've been involved in the performing arts since the 3rd grade (a long time). I have directed and edited a short film; worked the cabaret circuit as part of a trio called Fantasie in the San Francisco Bay Area; studied theater at Cal Arts in Valencia, California, and performed in summer stock at Fallon House Theater in Stockton, California.
Currently (since 2010), I've been studying at Voicetrax in Sausalito, California with many wonderful people, as well as participating in workshops in L.A., with Jeannie Elias. In particular, I've been working on the narration aspect of the business because I feel that one of my strengths is storytelling.
The arts have always been my driving force and I can't go for very long without being involved in the arts in some capacity.
I've also worked in the advertising and broadcasting fields in the early days of my professional career (day job).
My studio consists of a Toshiba laptop equipped with Audacity and Yeti Blue microphone but I have easy access to many good studios in the East Bay.
The following is an excerpt from a review that was written by my very first instructor at Voicetrax. I think it speaks to the professionalism, focus, and enthusiasm that I bring to my work:
"In spite of her extensive acting background and experience, Barbara refreshingly, displays no airs of being self-absorbed by her former success and experience. She is very easy to work with and follows direction very well. With a little additional training, Barbara could go out and write her own ticket. She's a keeper."
