My Voice Experience
I've been working in radio on air for about five years, voicing news, weather, sports, commercials, and more. This experience has allowed me to really work on improving my voice. However, I hadn't seriously considered a voice talent career until some "playing around" in the studio opened my mind.
Our morning show host didn't have a unique intro, so one day as a joke for my coworkers, I voiced, recorded, and mixed a few intros for him. While it was more of a joke, my coworkers told me they were impressed. For one intro, I improvised an acapella barbershop-quartet style theme for him. While I'm not a great singer, the song was catchy and pleasant, and the host decided to use it every week day for his introduction.
However, I'd say that more of my voice talent has come from just practicing in my free time, whether in my car or alone in my bedroom. I've been doing wacky voices for my friends since I was a kid, and all throughout my life, I've imitated various characters, whether specific or generic, while really putting these characters into my own voice.
