Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects

Various British including: Received Pronounciation ("High Class"), Cockney, Scottish (Highland and Lowland), Irish, and more. American Accents include: Standard Midwest, "Cowgirl", New York, Southern. Some others include East Indian, French, Australian. I have several character voices of my own, including "Queen Victoria", a Jewish Mother, a "Bimbo", and others. And I can even do some animal impersonations that are indistinguishable from the real thing, if you want to spice up a recording with them!

My Voice Experience

There's a reason I call myself "The Many Voices of Anne Ahlert"! I've done a wide variety of work, using a wide variety of voices. I've done IVR/Telephony/Voicemail for several companies, including Pitney-Bowes (who needed a realistic-- but universally understandable!-- Southern accent). Also, I've done ads & PSAs for radio stations (including multiple local Chicago-area stations and as far away as WBTN in Vermont). I've been one of the Three Little Pigs and a Wicked Witch-- all in the same week. In addition, I have some theatrical experience & have had a character role in an independent film.
However, in addition to the more humorous and fun gigs I've had, I have also been able to provide a serious, warm, and genuine business image.

My Training

While I had taken theatre courses in college and performed in local theatrical productions, my younger years were aimed at a career in writing and editing. A publisher who hired me was a former DJ. She encouraged me to go into voiceover work, and offered to coach me. Since then, I have been recording and working out of my home studio in the Chicago suburbs, where I got hands-on experience with electronic sound editing. My past writing and editing experience has not gone to waste, however, as been able to use it when writing several humorous ads.
