Voice Description

My voice is strong and unwavering having been exercised in the classroom and on the stage. It carries and conveys more than just the message of the words. I have developed skills in narration by reading novels out loud to my students. I continue to develop my ability to portray charaters through participation in community theater. I can elicit the attention and enthusiasm of adolescents with the fun, teasing sound of my voice, and I can reassure the most concerned of parents with the softer side.

My Voice Experience

As a teacher, I put on five shows a day for my captive audience of sixth graders. In this capacity I have learned to use my voice expressively and for different purposes- to calm upset students, to capture the attention of wandering minds, to hold kids in suspense at climactic points in novels we read.

On the stage, in productions including Oliver Twist, The Gift of the Magi, Bye Bye Birdie, and The Music Man, I have learned to project my voice and to inject layers of meaning into even the simplest of statements.

My Training

I am starting out in the voice over industry, and the main source of my training and experience has been real world interractions- with peers, with employers, with students. Public speaking began with my valedictory address as I graduated from high school.

I am highly educated, having earned my Bachelor of Business Administration from UMass Amherst in 1998 and my Master's Degree in education from Fitchburg State College in 2001. I am a professional in every sense of the word, having worked in a client service industry (public accounting) before embarking on my career as an educator. I aim to please- myself, my co-workers, my employers, my clients- and am a bit of a perfectionist. I bring these assets to any project I undertake, whether it be reading to my students, acting, or even just leaving voicemail messages.
