I was born in Punjab, India, and came to the UK with my family at the age of nine. I was educated in the UK - I have a B.A.( Honours) degree in English Literature, and an M.A. in Film-Making. I also have a certificate which enables me to work as a fully qualified yoga teacher, which I gained from the Sivananda Ashram in South India, but I gained that much later.
I have had a somewhat accident prone life. I have experienced five major accidents. The worst one happened when I was twenty-four. I was in a fire and suffered third degree burns. Extensive skin grafts left my whole body scarred, except for my face – which was untouched - and my back. However, with the help of my parents, I recovered my health and mobility and went on to work in many fields - I have even managed to work indoors occasionally as a journalist, an advertising copywriter, an independent producer and festival organiser, a market researcher, and a customer care representative for a brand of washing powder, during which time I gave penetrating and heartfelt advice on stain removal until I was fired... .
On a more serious note, I have written a novel called The Virgin Goddess, which was published in 2006. It is about the Royal Kumari of Kathmandu and is available from Amazon.com and all major bookshops. I travelled to Nepal to do the research before I wrote it. You can read more about it by typing "The Virgin Goddess by Anjali Paul" into the Books section of Amazon.com. I have also written poetry which has been accepted for publication, written short stories and gained a short story prize along the way, written and produced plays and written screenplays as well. I am looking for voiceover work, and I have done some acting and performing in my time, so I can bring those skills to voice overs.
I have done a lot of performing as a perfomance poet, and I also give lectures and speeches on various topics. This has given me some practice in using my voice professionally. I have done a bit of acting, which also helped me to learn how to project my voice. I have worked for many years (on and off) as a telephone market researcher (on a part-time, casual basis), and this taught me how to project and modulate my voice in order to get results.
I love travelling and nature always inspires me. I love learning about different cultures, about history, and about the world in general. I am very interested in literature, poetry, art, dance and theatre. I am also a qualified yoga teacher and a published writer.
