My start in voice over work came in 2003, when I created a series of commercials for One (a nightclub in Baltimore, MD) that had regular rotation on WIHT-FM (Hot 99.5, Washington, DC) throughout the late summer/early fall.
Afterwards, I was originally hired by Radio One, Inc. (Washington, DC) in 2005 to do board operator work for Face Ya Wildboy's now-defunct Wild Radio program (of which I also produced promo bytes and segment intros). Due to the small amount of experience in the field of commercial work and the huge reputation for my ability to perfectly execute all my production work, I ended up being picked up by the company's production department to handle, produce and voice commercials as well as become the voice for "The After Dinner News" segment that was featured on Wild Radio (that now-defunct program).
My ability to make commercials sound fluent and not "read" led me to becoming one of the most sought-after producers by radio jocks from Radio One stations 93.9 WKYS-FM, 102.3 WMMJ-FM, 1450 WOL-AM & 1350 WYCB.
Despite my departure from Radio One in 2007, I've managed to continue to do voice over work for several commercials as well as featured vocal spots on random podcasts, including the bi-weekly Wild Radio Special 10 Countdown podcast (...I'm also its executive producer) and the currently being renovated (and quite uncensored) "After Dinner News Weekly" (...I created it to be a listener's view of the news that revolve around the entertainment industry and abroad. It was based on The After Dinner News that was run on Wild Radio). Both shows combined earned both my brother (Face Ya Wild Boy) and I over 600,000 suscribers worldwide since its inception in August 2008.
Everything is self-taught, from the voice to the production.
My first bit of self-training came from handling production projects on the SAW-32 audio program in 2002. Afterwards, I managed to learn almost everything about every feature included in Cool Edit Pro (which later carried over to the Adobe Audition series) while learning how to improve my vocal talents on the Roland 1300 (I believe that's what it is called) before carrying that knowledge over to the Audition series (after it included a multi-track screen to handle the things that the Roland can and can't do).
In-studio (Copycatz Media, Laurel, MD; The MidiEast Clinic, Alexandria, VA): Pro Tools, SHURE brand studio microphones with appropriate filters for all raw voice over recordings.
At home: Adobe Audition 1.5 and 2.0 for all editing, mixdown & production services
Production-wise, I do on-air production for EZ Street on 93.9 WKYS-FM (Washington, DC) for "The EZ Street Show" as well as podcast production for "Global Soundboy" (created and hosted by EZ Street) and "Herkules World Online" (created and hosted by Herkules, 95.5 WPGC-FM, DC...I also serve as the show's programmer and executive producer).
I've also produced various mix tapes, including "The After Party Live At The Hip Hop Penthouse with DJ Trini" (2003), "H-Town To DC Vol. 2" (2006) and the upcoming "BYOND the DIAL" mix series (planning a Holiday 2008 release).
