I've always done weird voices. I think it came from my dad reading me Smurf comics when I was a child.
At the age of 16, I dropped out of high school (don't worry, I eventually got a GED and a BFA) and started working as a news anchor at a local radio station, WMSV-FM, located in Starkville, MS, aka The Armpit of America. I worked there for 3 years, first doing a five-minute pre-recorded news segment and then moving on to live news anchoring at drive time, local reporting, morning dj-ing, and some PSA and station ID production work.
For awhile, if you called any phone at Mississippi State University and were put on hold, you would hear me telling facts about the school! Good times.
I moved out of journalism/broadcasting to pursue theatre, but my love of voice acting stayed with me. Voice was my best subject all through my theatre training, and I participated in a master class with voiceover artist Chip Bolcik, who encouraged me to pursue it professionally once more.
And here we are.
I've done a few commercials and an industrial and some episodic TV, but that requires me to do my hair and makeup. I'd like to pursue the voice-only part of said endeavors.
Professional training/experience via my work at the radio station and my work in television, commercials and film; BFA in theatre performance from Virginia Commonwealth University with instruction from renown vocal coach Janet Rodgers; master class in voiceover acting with Chip Bolcik.
I can actually belch on command. And I'm trained in blood-curdling screaming. I also have a great ear for mimicry and frequently sing karaoke.
