My Voice Experience

I recall about 10 years ago, I had a best friend who was a journalist for the Virginian Times located in the Tidewater area in Southern Virginia. Her name was Shauna Miller. Ms. Miller and I grew up together and attended the same high school called Granby High School. Granby High School is located in Norfolk Virginia. She would always write commentaries for the school newspaper. She was also a radio announcer for the school radio station. I would hang out with her while she was working. I always saw how the radio studios look. There was so much equipment in the studio. I would listen to her and she woud sound great. Then, one day, he director of the studio asked me to read something for her. After hearing me, she asked me if I would asist Shauna with some of the shows. Shauna would be on the air on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings from 10:00am-11:00am. I would be on the air on Thursdays from 1:00pm-2:00pm. We would read documentaries and important information like weekly events for the school. We continued to do this until we graduated from Granby in June 1991. Until this day, Shauna still has some affiliations with local newspaper companies. I am pursuing a career in voice over.

Over the last few years, I have been interested in voice over because I feel I can do the work. Many people often come to me and ask me if I am a DJ Jockey because they say I have a great voice. Others have asked me if I was ever been a journalist. I told them that I have never had either jobs. I decided one day that I was going to be a voice over artist oneday. Until this day, I feel that I have the greatest voice ever. My dream is to be obtain a job on a major network in animation. Animation is something I would be interested in. It looks like fun work. What makes me a great asset in voice over is that I have a refine voice. I can also be flexible with myvoice. This means that I can take on many personalities for any situation. If a promo calls for someone who is excited, I am the one that can deliver. If a promo calls for someone to be sexy I can deliver that also. I recall the promo that I did for Big Red. This was a primary example of how to be sexy. I feel that you have to make the perosn who is listening feel your personality. You have to also have the person intersted in your product. You would want them to buy it after hearing your promo. To me that is what voice over means to me. It means that you are being true and beleive in your product.
