My voice experience began back in 1996 when I was getting my degree in journalism at Concordia University in Quebec, Canada. I did extra work in the broadcast field on the side, as I was specializing in print. It was an internship in my home town of Colorado Springs at one of the local TV stations that gave me what I needed to send out tapes and land my first job in TV. I was the everything girl for KREY TV in Montrose, Colorado for two years after graduating. I shot all of my own video, edited, tracked reports, and anchored a four minute nightly newscast. From there, I went on to report and fill-in anchor at KOAA-TV in Pueblo / Colorado Springs where I worked for four years (1998 - 2002). I had several sessions with voice coaches while at KOAA-TV. But then, in the fall of 2002, I finally made it! I made it to the Denver market where my pay was amazing and I would no longer have to struggle in my life. I started out in the mountain newsroom for CBS4 Denver, often doing pieces on the side for our parent network--CBS News, CBS Radio, and The Weather Channel. When the Kobe Bryant trial was going on in Eagle, Colorado, I was hired by Sports Fan Radio to report on that case, earning hundreds of extra dollars over the course of a year. After spending six years in the freezing cold climate of Summit County, Colorado, I couldn't take it any longer and transferred down to the Denver station where I worked as a one-man-band for my last four years there. That meant I shot my own video, edited, and reported daily. Many of my pieces continued to make it into network newscasts. I was laid off in December of 2012. I had been wanting to transition out of news, however. Now that I am no longer bound by my contract, I am free to pursue freelance or contract voice work and I am so excited to be doing this! This is something I have always wanted to do, and my dream is to support myself with this type of work while I write children's novels.

My father is a broadcast engineer for Clear Channel. I have a padded set up for tracking at home using studio quality foam and a Blue microphone, Yeti USB that uses a USB port to plug into my computer rather than having to convert an XLR. I also have an engineer / voice over professional who I can rely on for guidance and questions. Although I don't have a phone patch, I have a Bluetooth ear piece that can easily be worn while I am tracking so you can monitor my sound over my cell phone and give direction in my ear.
I have a multitude of interests. I currently live on five acres and have three horses of my own. I support myself. One of my horses I plan to train myself and hopefully use him in competiton one day. I am still a freelance print journalist on the side, writing for regional and nationally - circulated magazines. I am a published author. I have a black belt in TaeKwonDo; I was a Colorado State Certified Firefighter and held a red card as well. I just started an online store at www.etsy.com/shop/flowerfelicity where I express my creative side by selling pressed flower art and other items-- all of which I have made myself. My ultimate goal is to be a full time author, focusing on children's literature. I am hoping to support myself through freelance writing and voice work so that I can work from home and begin to realize that dream.
I also have this tiny sidebar of a goal to play a news reporter, either in a commercial or in voice over. Having been a TV reporter for the past 17 years, I always cringe at how stereotypical and horrible the reporter impersonations are! I could give a client something tremendously more realistic!
Also, this is difficult to put on the given checklists, but I would be willing to do low budget or no budget work for any non-profit that helps animals.
