My Voice Experience

Alison Matthews has over fourteen years of professional experience recording commercials for radio and tv, tv promo, animation, corporate & instructional CD Roms, and promotional videos.
She regularly records telephony and voice mail services for Telus Communications; as well, she has ongoing work recording commercials for many health care clinics, banks and real estate development companies across the continent. Regional and national commercial clients include Microsoft, Clorox, Nintendo, Starbucks, and Whistler-Blackcomb Resorts, to name but a few. The voice of KVOS TV for nine years, she has also been the announcer for the prestigious Lotus Awards for advertising; as well, she has voiced award-winning campaigns for a variety of charities. In the animation world she played the trigger-happy Forte Stollen in Bandai’s animation series Galaxy Angel and was the omnipresent narrator of the popular Mobile Suit Gundam Seed series. Most recently, she can be heard in the lead role of Motoko in the hit Manga series, "Ghost in the Shell".

My Training

Alison has been working professionally in voice-over, theatre, film, and tv for sixteen years. She has had regular roles on tv shows such as NBC's youth drama 'Just Deal' and Showtime's 'Beggars and Choosers'. Other selected television and film credits include 'Battlestar Galactica', 'Stargate SG1', 'The X-Files', and Disney's 'Snowdogs'. Her training began with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Theatre, and she also holds an Associateship in Speech & Drama from Trinity College, London. Having taken workshops with voice trainers from England, The U.S., and Canada, Alison is currently completing a Master’s degree in Fine Arts specializing in voice.

My Studio Equipment

Alison uses a MAC computer, and her home studio is equipped with a Rode microphone and MicPort Pro, giving excellent sound quality to her MP3, WAV or AIF files. She also has easy access to several top-quality commercial recording studios if you need more production or post-production support.

Additional Skills

For the past eight years Alison has been regularly invited to judge regional speech and drama competitions, and has found this to be a great way to keep her own voice-over skills sharp -- by coaching others in the elements of effective voice performance, she says her awareness of her own voice performance grows.
