My Voice Experience
I was born a small child with a need to speak. The first year was a struggle but once the words formed I couldn't shut up. I look at this way: I can either go about my business and drive people nuts with my incessant talking or I can parlay that gift into a career. I choose the latter. I've spent the past two decades working in professional theatre and have been fortunate to snag an occasional voice-over job. In 2002 and 2003 I provided the pre-show announcements for The Colorado Shakespeare Festival and recently provided voice for a couple video games produced in Seattle. I played Scott Varnell for Her Interactive's Nancy Drew and the Tale of the Twister and Magi for Passion Fruit Game's Tiger Eye. In between I amuse myself by pretending to talk on my cell as I work on my voice.
My Training
I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Performance at Southern Oregon University and my Master of Fine Arts in Theatre Performance at Pennsylvania State University. Both schools dealt with classical text which puts great demands on the voice. Also, they taught me how to read a script and make strong choices in a short time.
My Studio Equipment
A Mac Book Pro, a Yeti microphone, a pair of headphones, and enough elbow grease to make it work.
Additional Skills
I continue to do live theatre. It's a great way to keep the voice strong and an excellent opportunity to work on characterizations.
