Voice Description

My voice is as flexible, smooth and coordinated as an Olympic gymnast.

My voice can be warm and deep for narrations, spicy and sharp for commercials, and directed and professional for presentations.

I understand that different formats (commercials, promos, PSA’s), require different vocal approaches.

For radio slugs or call letters, my voice is direct, powerful and focused, grabbing the listener’s attention.

For a PSA my voice is calm, clear and relaxed., or can be cautious and informative.

I took Arabic classes in college and can pronounce any Arabic name with ease, as well as read intermediate grammar and script.

My Voice Experience

I’ve been immersed in radio since high school, and have been voicing for radio since I was 16. Here’s what I’ve done:

88.1-FM WBFH, Bloomfield Hills, MI- voiced news reports, promos and station ID’s for two years.

88.9-FM WDBM East Lansing, MI- voiced news reports for two years.

91.5-FM WBEZ Chicago Public Radio- trained in voicing technique, pacing and delivery and learned how to use Sony Vegas editing.

My Training

In college I took many, many classes on radio voicing and script, and learned a great deal on delivery and pacing. Most classes had us prove we knew how to write, voice and edit radio scripts for broadcast-quality.

I am currently at 91.5-FM WBEZ Chicago Public Radio, and am getting constant feedback on my voicing style and pacing.

I graduated with a major in journalism and a specialty in Arabic.

In high school I placed third in the state for Forensics Broadcasting.

I also actively listen to and imitate commercials I hear on commercial radio stations in my spare time, to better hone my voice capabilities.

Additional Skills

I’ve played basketball and practiced tai chi and yoga for years. Aside from my voiceover work at college and high school, I can bring my experiences with these and other leisure activities. I can mold and bend my voice to suit the situation required.
