My Voice Experience
My experience comes primarily from my career. By trade, I am an English teacher and do a great deal of work with plays. As a teacher, I must find a way to convey the intended tone of the author and I have always found that voice acting is the best way to get to the essence of the script with my students.
My Training
I have a BS in English Education and an MS in Educational Leadership. I learned early on while completing my coursework that one of the greatest tools that a teacher has is his voice. A well-honed voice can be used to express displeasure, disinterest, warmth, decisiveness, you name it. But more importantly the voice can elicit a myriad of reactions from those you direct it toward. It is a skill too often overlooked by professionals. In college, I worked for several semesters at the Florida International University radio station. This experience gave me a new perspective on the importance of sounding clear and natural, particularly while cutting commercials and drops.
