My Voice Experience
While being certified by the Houston area CSB (Connetticut School of Broadcasting), I worked with local news reporters, anchors, journalist, local radio DJ's, Sport anchors and voice actors. CSB provided me with classes in DJ spots, radio sweepers, radio commercial's using different kind's of accents, traffic updates, news reports and story narrations. In the narrations aspect of my education, we did one excercise such as an Alice in Wonderland intro, reading it forward and backward and making it still sound like a story. In radio commercial class, one of our assignments were to do a scope commercial. We were told to think of a location and place that a scope commercial could be taken place at. I envisioned two middle-aged British women shopping in a mall and having a conversation about being unable to get a date, discovering it could be because of her breath.
While this scope commercial was being conducted together with a class partner, I thought up another theme for the commercial. Instead of two English women, this time it was two young American surfer dudes walking on the beach being unable to get a date due to the same problem. We did both themes for the commercial.
In my own personal time, I have created radio sweepers written by me and have done voice overs from scripts provided by friend's diaries and personal story blogs.
