My Voice Experience
Growing up, I subconsciously knew someday that the voice over field was what I wanted to do with my life, it just took some time (2012 in fact) to get it all on track. Spending countless hours in front of the TV set watching endless cartoons, I was always fascinated with who was behind the voice as a child and am know to break down "who's who" to friends, sharing my expansive knowledge of big name VO talent. I've studied extensibly in classes and personal instruction, and always hungry to learn more, knowing "you can never stop learning" in this business. Outside of the professional level, I contribute to www.toyworldorder.com for podcasting, videos and reviews. On my podcast segment, I run a "news team" consisting of all sorts of character and anchor it in my own voice as well as provide the voices to all the characters reporting on all sorts of pop culture news. In my review videos, I narrate and give an in-depth break down of the item in question, all in my own enigmatic personality (it can be a little zany sometimes). Aside from that, I produce YouTube videos for Sven Kingsley, my Swedish alter ego ready to bring smiles to all you Americans in a pompadour, mustache and aviators. I've gone to flower shows, comic conventions, bars, read reinterpreted christmas tales to children, made personal PSAs on the valuable asset that is the peanut, and have more projects underway (all of this can be found in the "Das Baron" channel). As I progress from the kid sitting on the couch wondering "what if?" to an adult getting started in the VO field, I look at myself in the mirror and say "you're making your dream come true", all while sporting a stylish ascot (there's no better way).
Cinekyd (a local Montgomery County, PA youth media production camp where I first dabbled in radio play recordings and editing), a brief stint as an understudy at Nebula Zone Recording studio in North East Philadelphia, The Art Institute of Philadelphia Audio Production courses, Voice Box LLC.(www.voiceboxvo.com) regular, advanced, and character/animation voice classes, and one on one instruction with my mentor, Neill Hartley (www.neillhartley.com).
My Studio Equipment
I have a small set up in my house (a padded out, walk-in closet, but it gets the job done) and record my audio through ProTools with a Samson C01 condenser microphone; I'm looking to upgrade, but I find it gives me a good enough sound for the time being. If actual studio time needs to be scheduled, I can always give Voice Box a call and set up a recording session.
